After struggling with a gradual weight increase for several years my doctor advised me to make changes to my lifestyle in an effort to curb unhealthy rises in blood pressure and cholesterol levels. He recommended that I consider working with Diminishing Dimensions as the safest option.

Diminishing Dimensions helped me develop a plan for eating that is very different from my past patterns and habits. When I tried to lose weight in the past I starved myself but always failed, watched my weight yoyo up and down, or even gained weight. Diminishing Dimensions taught me the right way to eat to maintain an active metabolism and a healthy nutritional balance. Over the one-year period I participated in the Diminishing Dimensions program I lost 65 pounds. Eating for comfort had become my ongoing way to deal with stress. My weight was affecting my life in negative ways. I was constantly tired, lazy and I avoided photos like the plague! The worst part about seeing photos was the realization of how heavy I had become. I also knew that being overweight was affecting my health as well. Hello, my name is Carolyn. I am 64years old and I live in Colchester and I am presently retired. While at my doctor’s office and being weighed on one visit she made a comment as she was worried about my health as my weight had steadily been going up. I had never had a weight problem as I was always active and my job was quite physical. But once I retired, I seemed to retire from everything!! My doctor had a pamphlet in her office that was from Diminishing Dimensions and said she didn’t really know anything about it, but thought I should give them a call. At my doctor’s office I weighed 215 pounds. Even I was in shock. I waited a few days and finally called Diminishing Dimensions to set up an appointment. When I went to my appointment, Rita was there and I remember asking her if she really thought I could lose this weight and I cried all at the same time. In her encouraging ways she told me if I followed the program and started exercising daily there was no way that I couldn’t lose the weight. So I started my new journey with Diminishing Dimensions. My food choices and amounts were more than reasonable and I wondered how I would eat so much food in one day and lose weight at the same time. But once I began reading each chapter in the program and working with Rita it all became clear on how my psychological as well as physical needs with food worked. I would recommend and encourage this program to anyone who might be struggling as much as I was. All of the foods that I enjoyed were here but presented in a much healthier way. My short comings of too many bad carbs and sugars were deleted and I began to ask myself before I put anything in my mouth, “is this good for my body”, and it helped me a lot. I still do that to this day. One of the biggest changes that I have made is that I do not eat any longer in my bedroom watching TV which was a big comfort zone for me.
Since completing my program and having lost nearly 90 pounds my cholesterol has dropped to the point that I am no longer on medication, my blood pressure has also dropped and my body fat has dropped to acceptable levels. I am back to exercising on a regular basis including aerobic and anaerobic which was taught so well from Marlane who was also an important part of my weight loss and I can’t thank her enough. There are so many things that I consider so important like amounts of protein needed in one day as well as water whether I want it or not. I feel like I could write a book about what I have learned from Rita and D. D.

As a Registered Nurse who knows better I was heading in the wrong direction. The reality was that I was 15 pounds heavier then I should have been and really off track, making bad decisions with my food choices. All my clothes were uncomfortable and tight. I especially did not like how large my arms were getting in short sleeves. From the time I was a child being overweight has always been an issue for me. I started with Rita back in the beginning of January 2015 at the encouragement of a friend. I was always one of those okay I put on 10 lbs I can just lose it by starving myself types. This time I put on an extra 50 lbs had high cholesterol and a fatty liver. I knew I needed some help, as starvation not only being unhealthy for you just wasn’t going to cut it.

The first time I met with Rita she said to me “okay you need to lose 10 lbs 5 times” I had never thought of it that way and wow did that sound a lot easier then having to lose 50 lbs. Rita introduced me to her partner Marlaine, and the two of them put together a plan that consisted of both diet and exercise. I met with Marlaine at the gym twice a week and Rita in her office once a week. Rita put together a diet plan that really made me feel as though I wasn’t dieting at all. I was actually eating more often through out the day, but now I was eating the correct things.

Recovering from spinal surgery, exercise was a complicated thing for me, Marlaine was right there the entire time coaching me along and guiding me to the correct exercises and soon enough I forgot about my limitations and was working out the proper way. Every time I would reach a 10lb weight loss goal, Marlaine would hand me a weight and say can you imagine walking around with that on your body. I am proud to report 5 months later I have dropped the 50 lbs, my cholesterol level is now in check and no more fatty liver. I highly suggest you talk with both Rita and Marlaine as they will teach you that the fad diets don’t work and that their plan does, it will become a way of life, and a life that is much better.

I had been overweight for many years. It got to the point where I hated shopping for clothes and really didn’t like the image I saw in the mirror. Over a span of 15 years I had lost and gained back 10-15 pounds. It was time for a change. I knew I needed one-on-one support to be successful , and I got that and more from Rita.

I had always considered myself a “carbo-holic” and a snacker, and I truly wondered if I could stick to a plan that sharply reduced my carb consumption. With Rita’s guidance we developed a plan detailing what I should eat and when I should eat it. The plan was tailored to my tastes (no mushrooms or asparagus!) with very specific menu recommendations and with enough variety to keep things interesting. Her grocery shopping lists and recipes were extremely helpful. Weekly check-ins and Rita’s counseling kept me motivated. Whenever there was an issue – weight hitting a plateau, needing new menu choices, etc. Rita was ready to tweak the plan to meet my needs.

I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. I broke my leg as a kid, and I remember that completely changing my body. My weight did get quite a bit worse in college and grad school, and my doctors were consistently telling me I needed to lose weight. But when I followed their instructions, I could lose about 10 pounds, and was frustrated that it didn’t really work. I needed to lose more than that. I became a vegetarian to make better choices for myself, and made all kinds of healthy food. No change.

Finally a new doctor didn’t just tell me I needed to lose weight, he gave me the help I needed by recommending Diminishing Dimensions. With Marlaine’s help, I have learned a lot, and realized why what other doctors were telling me didn’t work. I learned what to eat and when, how to deal with cravings for certain things, and what I needed to do for exercise. Though it was challenging to make a complete change at first, it became very easy to follow. Now I don’t even have to think about it.

I find that I feel better when I do things the way I’m supposed to. I have increased energy, and no longer experience the constant headaches and midnight stomach attacks that used to plague me. This, in addition to the fact that I have lost over 50 pounds now and look entirely different. All of this has made the investment in this program entirely worthwhile. And I know that when I have reached the goal, I will have support to stay there, which is just as important.
